Sourdough Naan Flatbread

Ingredients

  • 1 cup active sourdough starter
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (plus more for cooking)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Optional: garlic, chopped cilantro, or butter for topping

1️⃣ Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine:

  • sourdough starter
  • warm water
  • yogurt
  • oil
  • sugar
  • salt

Gradually add flour and mix to form a soft dough.


2️⃣ Knead the Dough

Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.


3️⃣ First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 4–6 hours or until doubled in size.


4️⃣ Divide and Shape

Punch down the dough and divide into 6–8 equal portions.
Roll each portion into a ball.


5️⃣ Roll Out the Naan

Roll each ball into an oval or teardrop shape, about ¼ inch thick.
