hat is a Frosty Or chocolate Frosty?
The Frosty is Wendy’s signature frozen dessert, well-recognized for its unique texture: a perfect blend of milkshake and soft-serve ice cream. It features a light chocolate flavor that pairs well with burgers and fries. Unlike a rich Chocolate Mousse Recipe, Wendy’s intentionally opted for a milder chocolate taste, as the owner believed that a stronger chocolate flavor could be too overpowering to complement savory fast food.
What Ingredients Do You Need for a Keto Frosty Recipe?
Frosty ingredients
The original Wendy’s frosty recipe is made with a whole bunch of ingredients including, but not limited to, milk, sugar, corn syrup, and a lot of other added additives. Here’s what’s contained
Milk
Sugar
Corn Syrup
Cream
Whey
Nonfat Dry Milk
Cocoa (Processed with Alkali)
Guar Gum
Mono and Diglycerides
Cellulose Gum
Natural Vanilla Flavor
Carrageenan
Calcium Sulfate
Sodium Citrate
Dextrose
Vitamin A Palmitate
As you can see, it’s loaded with sugar, corn syrup, and a cocktail of stabilizers and emulsifiers. But many of the base ingredients-such as cream, milk, cocoa, and vanilla-are great starting points to make a healthier, low-carb version. Let’s get rid of the stuff we don’t need and make our own Keto Frosty with top-notch ingredients!
Making a Keto-Friendly Frosty
Set up and break out a blender-very important for creating the ice cubes into this frosty cold dessert that is creamy. Magic only happens with three staple ingredients: rich, heavy cream; smooth, powdered cocoa; and a pinch of erythritol, the low-carb sweetener to make this frozen treat just perfect.
With just 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, that chocolate flavor will be subtle yet true-to-life, just like the original Frosty. Add a splash of vanilla extract to introduce just a hint of vanilla flavor to balance that chocolate. A pinch of salt balances sweetness and deepens it. Blend until combined, and in one minute, you’ll have a creamy and satisfying homemade Frosty!
This recipe makes about 4 cups of Keto Frosty. One cup contains about 3 grams of carbs. You can serve 4 small servings or 2 generous ones-perfect to share or enjoy on your own!
Expert Tips for a Luxuriously Thick Low-Carb Frosty
Blender: For a smooth Frosty, you are going to want a blender with some little muscle. It doesn’t have to be one of those fancy, high-tech ones but at least be sure that it’s at least heavy-duty enough to crush ice cubes and blend them into a silky-smooth treat.
Ice: This is the key to a richly thick Frosty. Try using 2 to 2.5 cups of ice cubes for that just-right consistency. It is thick enough in this case to be enjoyable with both a spoon and straw. If it ends up too watery, just toss in some more ice and fire up the blender.
Cocoa Powder: Make it like the original Frosty, with Dutch-process cocoa powder for that deep dark color and a mellow flavor. A nod to the flavor of the original recipe, it is worth noting here that if it’s not possible to get Dutch-process, then just plain old cocoa powder will serve the purpose, though the flavor profile might be different.
Serving: This recipe makes enough to indulge in 4 petite servings or 2 generous portions. Immediately serve, so that perfect thick texture stays intact. If extra decadent, top Frosty with a dollop of whipped cream. If you don’t think you can handle that much, easily halve this recipe to avoid waste.
Creative Twists: Why not mix things up? Throw in a teaspoon of mint extract for a refreshing chocolate-mint Frosty, or drop in some coffee ice cubes for a mocha variation. Just freeze your coffee ahead of time and blend it in for a deliciously different take on the classic treat.

kcalWant a Frosty, but are on the keto diet? This easy Keto Frosty is made in one minute and creamy, delicious, and low-carb, the perfect alternative to Wendy’s famous Frosty with no extra carbs.
Ingredients
2-2.5 cups ice cubes
1 cup heavy cream 250 ml
2/3 cup granular erythritol 130 grams
2 tbsp cocoa powder 12 grams
dash salt
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Directions
- Place ice cubes in your blender, followed by all the remaining ingredients. Blend on high until smooth. Serve right away.
Notes
- Ice. The more ice cubes you add, the thicker your Frosty will end up being. Somewhere between 2-2.5 cups of ice cubes seem to be working best for me.
Serving. This recipe is enough for 4 small servings or 2 large servings. You can enjoy it as is, or even top it off with some whipped cream if desired. Serve right away, as the ice will melt and the Frosty will lose its thick texture. If one recipe makes too much for you, simply make half the recipe, so you won’t have any leftovers.
