Easy Sourdough Naan

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4โ€“1/2 cup warm water (as needed)

  1. Make the dough
    In a bowl, mix sourdough discard, flour, yogurt, oil, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  2. Knead
    Add warm water gradually and knead into a soft, smooth dough.
  3. Rest the dough
    Cover and let it rest for 1โ€“2 hours (or at least 30 minutes if short on time).
  4. Divide & shape
    Divide into small balls and roll each into oval or round naan shapes.
  5. Cook on pan
    Heat a skillet/tawa on high heat. Place naan and cook until bubbles form, then flip.
  6. Get charred spots
    Press lightly and cook until golden with slight char marks.
  7. Add butter
    Brush with butter or garlic butter.
  8. Serve hot
    Enjoy with curry, yogurt, or chutney.
