Sourdough Cheddar Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese 🧀
  • ½ cup sourdough discard or active sourdough starter
  • ½ cup cold butter (cubed) 🧈
  • ¾ cup milk 🥛
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1:
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Step 2:
In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.

Step 3:
Add the cold butter cubes and mix with your fingers or a pastry cutter until the mixture looks like crumbs.

Step 4:
Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.

Step 5:
Add the sourdough starter and milk, then mix until a soft dough forms.

Step 6:
Lightly flour a surface and gently knead the dough 3–4 times.

Step 7:
Roll the dough to about 1 inch thickness and cut biscuits using a round cutter.

Step 8:
Place biscuits on the baking tray and bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.

Step 9:
Let them cool slightly and serve warm.
